ROMANTICISED & HEATSINK
Romanticised & Heatsink is a performance project that springs out of Angela Goh's exhibition Gloss, which is an accumulation of materials produced during specific moments of recalling her solo work Sky Blue Mythic, often when remounting it for a tour.
Gloss is made up of drawings, annotations, correspondences, gestural inventories, demonstration videos and text fragments, and functions as a catalogue of the process of remembering, rather than an archive of the thing that is being remembered.
Romanticised & Heatsink repurposes the materials of Gloss as scores for others to inhabit, including Chloe Chignell and Tim Darbyshire. It is a project of “rehydrating” the materials by bringing them back to the body, while knowing that this won’t bring back the original because Gloss traces the act of remembering the original, rather than the original itself, a system which reaches back in time to recall that which has already been, and feels forward in time towards that which is yet to come. Between the triangulation of Sky Blue Mythic, Gloss, and Romanticised & Heatsink, things are lost and things are found, because every act of memory or translation requires interpretation, creation, and transformation.
